it does not matter which system is considered left or right. Pick a convention for which system is left and which system is right and stick to that convention. You pick to be the left or right side system must be that system on both ends of the VPN.
Don't guess! Verify parameters on each firewall using the techniques described earlier. Incorrect values can cause hours of debugging fun.
