Also note that there are no timetables, and no do not ask when version x.x will be finished.


1.4 Version

Every update after 1.4.20 should be strictly security and bug fixes and no new features


2.0 Version

• 2.6 kernel, mainly to be able to support newer hardware more easily
• new look for Web GUI
• new installer / setup
• Better integration with flash devices on install
• OpenVPN
• integration of (modified) BOT
• when possible support for Alpha, Power PC and Sparc architectures
• software RAID
• maybe some other changes from list below

Mid term goals, subject to discussion

• Support multiples interfaces (more than 1 green, blue, orange)
• More add-ons integrated (adv proxy, url filter, others ...)

Long term goals, subject to discussion

• Modular packaging with stable and testing repository
• Automatic patch load / update
• Translation/i18n updates
• New bootscripts (Linux from Scratch)
• Wifi support
• QoS kernel
• layer7 filter
• New firewalling interface using Shorewall (including QoS, etc.)
• First XML/RPC Daemon for config administration
• Full XML/RPC Management
• Support multiples RED interfaces

Please note that some (or even all) of the mid and long term goals may never be realized.
